Far Out 70's Beauty Trends

The biggest beauty trend of the 1970's was the nude/neutral look. Black Cinema skyrocketed in popularity which introduced style icons such as Foxy Brown. Pam Grier's character, Foxy Brown exudes 70's beauty for women of color, bronze skin and nude lips. It was difficult for me to emulate this look because my personal makeup style is very 80's, however, it came out well.

How To Achieve the 70's Nude Look

1. Always prep your face with a primer.

2. Apply a dewey foundation such as Makeup Forever's HD Foundation. Skip the powder. During this decade women wanted their skin to look as natural as possible. If you are not into foundation use a BB cream.

3. Use a gold based bronzer such as MAC's Mineralized Skin Finish in Comfort to highlight your forehead, upper cheek bones, and chin.

4. If you have brown skin apply an apricot blush. For fairer skin tones apply a light pink or peachy blusher.

5. Apply a nude cream eyeshadow as a base. Gently pat a nude powder shadow over the base. I used Maybelline's Color Tattoo in Bad to the Bronze as a base and Urban Decay's Toasted shadow.

6.) Apply black liner to your water line and on your upper lash line. Coat your lashes with mascara. (optional)

7.) Apply nude lipstick. Skip the lip liner.
